Quotes from the Tour de Canal Training Committee

"We ride because we have to. Alzheimer's is an insidious disease. It trapped my grandmother into 2 years of silence. It trapped my mother-in-law for over 10 years of her life and it has trapped a beloved cousin before the age of 60. We ride because we have to win this fight."
- Alan Willsey, Chapter Board Member, 5 year rider

"I enjoy a challenge. I love the scenic beauty of the Canal and I relish the friendships and camraderie. But more than anything, it's the satisfaction of supporting a truly important cause that brings me back every year."
- Steve Futato, 10 year rider

"The C & O Canal is one of America's most unique trails. I get to travel the same path that an ancestor took in 1814. The Alzheimer's Association works to cure a fate that befell so many other ancestors."
- Chris Mullen, 12 year rider

"I have participated in the Tour event since 2001 with some fantastic people I've met over the years for two reasons; the canal is breathtaking and because my mother and grandmother had the disease. I've committed to this event and the Alzheimer's Association's efforts to stop its progression because I have witnessed firsthand the impact of this wretched disease."
-Colette Browning, 9 year rider

"I ride for today, tomorrow, and most importantly yesterday's memories."
-Kathy Rodgers, 8 year rider
