Training Programs

The Alzheimer's Association® is committed to helping professionals improve their knowledge and skills, build stronger teams and deliver better care for people with Dementia in assisted living residences and nursing homes.

Our new comprehensive and affordable training programs are geared towards professionals working in both community-based and residential care settings. The training offers you and your staff interactive, customized instruction that delivers practical skill-building techniques that have been tested in residential care settings.

A variety of people attend our programs and meetings: activity professional administrators, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers and staff trainers. Many of the training programs offer CEUs.

Training is based on the Alzheimer’s Association publication, Dementia Care Practice Recommendations for Assisted Living Residences and Nursing Homes, and stress the importance of developing greater personal relationships with residents. Direct care workers who understand both Alzheimer symptoms and the individual resident can make better decisions about the most effective method for providing care.

For more information about local professional training programs, please contact call 703.359.4440 or e-mail ProgramNCA@alz.org.
