Everyday someone makes a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s! The Alzheimer’s Association® National Capital Area Chapter works hard throughout the community to engage individuals, companies, foundations, organizations and groups to partner with us -- giving of their time, talent and resources toward our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.

Sudley Manor House Annual Yard Sale
On May 14, Sudley Manor House hosted their annual yard sale! There were great deals on household items, electronics, fashion, art, furniture, sporting goods, CD/DVDs and more! A larger variety of snacks were available - corn dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy, donuts, cider and more! Thank you for coming out the yard sale and supporting the Alzheimer's Association! Team Memory Makers - Bowling to End Alzheimer's
On May 14, Team Memory Makers partnered with Bowl America in Occoquan and raised funds for the Alzhimer's Association. Thank you for bowling to end Alzheimer's! Learn more about how you can be a part of helping our community through events like these here.

Alzheimer's Night at the Park
On May 13, the Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter partnered with the Potomac Nationals Baseball Team for "Alzheimer's Night at the Park"! We cheered on the Potomac Nationals against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Thank you for coming out, wearing your purple Alzheimer's shirts and helping us strike out Alzheimer's! Forget Me Not Days
On May 13, Bankers of Life and Casualty Company hosted their annual Forget Me Not Days (nationwide fundraiser that started back in 2003) to benefit the Alzheimer's Association at Washington Center (one of many location across the U.S.). Bankers of Life and Casualty Company's agents and employees volunteer helped raise funds and handed out Forget-Me-Not flower seed packets (also includes the Association's 24/7 Helpline 800.272.3900 and web site http://www.alz.org/) to those who made donations - 100% of the proceeds was donated directly to the Association for Alzheimer care, support, services and research. End Alzheimer's Disease
On May 11, Bella Vita Italian Restaurant at 9675 Liberia Avenue, Manassas, VA 20110 hosted a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association. People came out to enjoy yummy Italian food to show support - 15% of the proceeds went to the Alzheimer's Association. 2011 Prince William Senior Sports Day
On May 7, Casey Toomey with Emeritus at Manassas Assisted Living and Chrissie Braswell with Manassas Health and Rehab hosted a fundraiser. Local senior communities put together a team of staff and their residents and competed in various games, enjoyed great food and had tons of fun! 3rd Annual Alzheimer's Charity Happy Hour
On May 4, Brooke Applegate hosted an event at Chi Cha Lounge to raise awareness for care and support for those affected by Alzheimer's and for Alzheimer's research. Learn more about how you can be a part of helping our community through events like these here.

A Concert and Dance to End Alzheimer's
On May 1, a concert that included the Olney Big Band with guest vocalist Ashley Larkin, M Street Brass Quintet and Eubie Blake Jazz Ensemble. participated in a show at Ten Oaks Ballroom to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's. Goals for Good - Gents Against Alzheimer's

On April 30, a volunteer-driven event raised awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Two teams competed in a friendly lacrosse tournament at Georgetown University's Multi Sport Field to help end Alzheimer’s. Fundraiser for the Walk to End Alzheimer's
On April 28, walkers partnered with Mamma Lucia of Reston at North Point Village Shopping Center for a fundraiser for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. Also added was a professional networking opportunity! Learn more about how you can be a part of helping our community through events like these here.

Alzheimer's Charity Golf Tournament
On April 23, Team Moving for Memory hosted a charity golf tournament to raise awareness and funds for their team to walk to end Alzheimer's. Thank you to Team Moving for Memory, Bristow Manor Golf Club and Dan Wright for supporting the Alzheimer's Association. Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament
On March 12, a Texad Hold'em Poker Tournament took placeChuck Wagon Restaurant supporting the Moving for Memory team. Thank you to Dan Wright 703.304.2709, Betty Llewellyn, Bill at the Chuck Wagon Restaurant and everyone who came out for the tournament! SingStrong - A Capella Festival
Between March 4 - 6, over 100 of the best professional a cappella singers from around the world took the stage at South Lakes High School. The event consisted of four concerts and 20 masterclasses, and featured nothing but the human voice. One hundred percent of the event benefitted the Alzheimer’s Association and local music programs. Styles included pop, jazz, doo-wop, Gypsy folk, rock, reggae-tone, beatbox and more, all performed completely a cappella. Read more about SingStrong here. Restaurant Week in Prince William County, VA
Between February 28 - March 4, local Prince William County restaurants participated in Restaurant week: Famous Dave’s (2430 Prince William Parkway, Woodbridge); Cici’s Pizza (13600 Foulger Square, Woodbridge); Mimi’s (5005 Wellington Road, Gainesville); Chili’s (10600 Sudley Manor Drive, Manassas); Chick-fil-A (10677 Sudley Manor Road, Manassas); Boston Market (13815 Smoketown Road, Woodbridge); Chili’s (4995 Wellington Road, Gainesville); Uno’s (10701 Bulloch Drive, Manassas); Uno’s (7390 Atlas Walk Way, Gainesville). Alzheimer's Awareness Night at Verizon Center
On February 5, the Washington Wizards faced off the Atlanta Hawks at Verizon Center, Washington, DC. It was a night of fun and provided great support to the National Capital Area Chapter. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be given to the Alzheimer’s Association - helping the Chapter with providing critical services to the community and fund much-needed research. Allison & Partners
Allison & Partners, a national communications agency, joins our team as the exclusive public relations partner of our new Women’s Initiative to help us reach our goal of engaging 5,000 women over the next three years. “Alzheimer’s has touched many families across our agency, including my own,” says Karyn Barr Amin, vice president of the Washington, D.C. office. “That’s why it was a natural decision to work alongside the Chapter to encourage women across the region to come together, share their stories, and inspire their friends and families to get more involved.” Learn more about the Women's Initiative here.
