Senator Jeff Bingaman receives Alzheimer's Association 2009 Humanitarian Award

Alzheimer's Advocate and NM Executive Director Agnes Vallejos and National Board member Tamara Lucero present Senator Jeff Bingaman with the Alzheimer's Association 2009 Humanitarian Award for his leadership in the fight to end the Medicare two year wait for persons with disabilities. The award was presented in Washington D.C. at the 21st Annual Public Policy forum, the Alzheimer's Assocation's premier advocacy event. As an Alzheimer's Association Humanitarian Award honoree, Senator Bingaman joins a distinguished group of past recipients, who include President Ronald Reagan, Senators Arlen Specter, Tom Harkin, Mark Hatfield, Barbara Mikulski, Jay Rockefeller, Charles Grassley and Blanche Lincoln and Representatives Steny Hoyer and Edward Markey.  

The Alzheimer's Association, New Mexico Chapter would like to personally thank Senator Bingaman for his sponorship of the Ending the Medicare Disability Wating Period Act (S. 2244) over the last several years.
