"ER" to feature storyline around Alzheimer's disease

This Thursday, April 19, NBC’s hit drama "ER" will feature a storyline around Alzheimer’s disease and caregiver stress. The writers of this episode consulted with the Alzheimer's Association to ensure the situation was accurately depicted.

"ER" has featured Alzheimer storylines in the past, including a doctor in the early stages of Alzheimer's portrayed by Alan Alda, and a singer with the disease played by Rosemary Clooney.

A number of other television shows and movies have tackled the topic of dementia recently, including "Grey's Anatomy", Hallmark Channel's "Sacrifices of the Heart" and "Away From Her."
