GENERAL SUMMARY
The national office of the Alzheimer's Association is currently seeking (2) experienced part-time fundraising specialists to join our Intermediate Gifts team, in the West Region. This team will establish relationships with Alzheimer's Association donors through daily telephone contact to cultivate and qualify as potential intermediate, major or planned giving prospects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Establish personal donor contact with an assigned portfolio of mid-level donors as well as prospects delivered by the Prospect Delivery system via telephone
- Work with major gift officers located in assigned regions to consistently qualify potential major or planned giving prospects to maximize the income from the regions as a whole
- Provide accurate and detailed documentation of calls using the Prospect Delivery system to ensure continuous and comprehensive assessment of donor needs and interests
- Create a cultivation plan for core list donors. This plan will include:
- Detailed cultivation plan for each donor
- Strategies for increasing number of successful responses each year
- Strategies and benchmarks for upgrading giving levels - Ensure accurate and timely transfer of donor requests for information to appropriate departments to resolve issues
Stay current regarding Alzheimer's Association news through research and conference calls with fellow peers
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of successful fundraising experience for a nonprofit or charitable organization, or equivalent
- College degree or the equivalent of education and experience
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and to work in home-based setting with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely on the telephone
- Displays competency in the core competencies necessary to fulfill the position:
- Ability to focus on learning about the Alzheimer's Association to be able to
communicate clearly and effectively the mission, vision and accomplishments
of the Association.
- Ability to identify donor interest and capacity to create a vision that matches and
raises those interests and capacity
- Ability to cultivate relationships with donors that lead to increasing levels of
interest, involvement and investment - Ability to manage donors across a large geographic territory. Management duties include:
- Weekly, monthly and annual planning for donor contact and cultivation
- Administrative duties that provide essential communication of information
between peers, supervisor and National staff. - Ability to work as a team with capacity to work with great effectiveness with other fundraising colleagues and team members.
- Possess above average communication, persuasion, listening and presentation skills. Must have a pleasant and outgoing demeanor, be a self motivator.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Diversity & Inclusion, the Chinese Outreach Specialist is responsible for outreach in the Chinese community in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. Outreach consists of partnerships with key stakeholders, educational presentations out in the community and care consultation to families. This position in the Mountain View office is time-limited for one year.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
CHINESE OUTREACH (70%)
- Develop and foster collaborative relationships with professionals and agencies serving the Chinese community throughout the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.
- Conduct educational presentations in the community
- Work collaboratively with community agency partners
- Organize the Chinese Alzheimer’s Conference
- Coordinate speakers and outreach for the Chinese Learning Circle
- Provide care consultation for Living with Memory Loss calls
- Expand Chinese resources (assess and translate needed materials)
HELPLINE
- Serve as a resource to staff and volunteers for Chinese
FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAMS
- Recruit families to participate in program
- Provide care consultation to families enrolled (needs assessment, care planning, resource referral, advocacy as needed, follow-up and documentation)
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in program staff meetings and relevant training sessions.
- Provide occasional consultation on Chinese outreach to the other local offices within the Chapter.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS/DEGREE REQUIRED,AND EXPERIENCE
- Masters degree preferred in social work, psychology, gerontology, or health related field
- Bilingual and bi-literate in Mandarin
- Experience in outreach to the Chinese community
- Comfortable with technology: E-mail, Word, Excel, Internet, Social Media
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Public speaking experience
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED
- Self-starter, independent worker and willing to take initiative
- Knowledge and/or interest in dementia care
- Ability to work weekends and evenings for educational presentations, health fairs, and special events.
- Ability to travel throughout the Bay Area, occasional travel to other local offices such as Sacramento.

STAFF SUPPORT: Regional Dirctor, Sacramento Office
TIME COMMITMENT: 2 Three-week early stage educational program series per year
STATUS: Contractor
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Regional Director of the Sacramento Alzheimer’s Association office, the Early Stage Program Educator is responsible for planning and implementing the Living With Alzheimer’s series for greater Sacramento area. The Early Stage Program Educator works with Association staff to provide early stage services in support of the Association’s mission: “to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.”
PROGRAM EDUCATOR DUTIES:
- Assist with outreach to potential referral sources and recruitment of participants.
- Participate with chapter staff in the screening of program participants.
- Conduct the Living With Alzheimer’s educational series for persons with Alzheimer’s and/or their care partners during scheduled meeting times (utilizing Alzheimer’s Association curriculum).
- Present pertinent chapter materials and information to participants.
- Create an atmosphere in which participants feel comfortable and safe expressing themselves.
- Participate in ongoing training and record keeping. Submit participant registration and evaluation forms to office staff.
- Communicate with Regional Director regarding needs of program participants for additional services or support.
- Assist as requested with identifying group members as advocates for Alzheimer’s Association.
- Participate in annual evaluation of Early Stage programs.
- Submit invoice to Regional Director after each series.
- Develop and foster collaborative relationships with professionals and agencies serving the Chinese community throughout the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Prefer Master’s level mental health or public health professional (e.g., social worker, psychologist, professional counselor, health educator) or equivalently experienced
- Experience conducting education programs
- Experience working with people living in the early stages of chronic illness
- Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
- Experience working with people with dementia and knowledge of community resources is preferred
TIME COMMITMENT
- Recruit and screen potential participants
- Conduct Living with Alzheimer’s twice per year (3 hours per week for 3 weeks, plus 2-4 hours screening of potential participants)
- Coordinate with Alzheimer’s Association staff
