Your Wellness + Their Wellness = Caregiving Success
For family and professional caregivers, self-care is vital to emotional and physical well-being. However for many family and professional caregivers, the emphasis is more often on the care recipient and self-care falls into the background. This seminar will help participants become more aware of their own needs and how tending to those needs will benefit the person they care for.
About the Speakers
Susan Gross, M.A., LPC Intern
Susan Gross graduated from Midwestern State University in 2012 with a master's degree in clinical psychology and counseling and is currently earning hours towards her professional counselor license. Dementia research results, compiled during her graduate program, were published in Dementia International in August 2013. Ms. Gross works for the Alzheimer’s Association - North Central Texas Chapter, Wichita Falls Office, as Education and Family Care Specialist. Her return to school in 2008 was motivated by her goal to assist family caregivers facing the daunting task of caring for elderly loved ones. She now accomplishes this through community education and care consultation with the Alzheimer’s Association.
Howard Gruetzner, MEd, LPC
Howard Gruetzner is a licensed professional counselor and is currently Education and Family Care Specialist with the Alzheimer’s Association - North Central Texas Chapter, where he counsels individuals with dementia and their caregivers. Mr. Gruetzner has over 30 years of clinical experience in dementia care and geriatric mental health with focus of family caregivers. He is author of Alzheimer’s: A Caregiver’s Guide and Sourcebook and provides education and training for family and professional caregivers.
