Steppin' Out for Memories began at the suggestion of a group of women friends who entered Abilene Christian College in 1966. They remain friends after these many years and call themselves “The Chicks of 66.” Each of the "Chicks” has been affected by Alzheimer’s disease, either in her own family or through the experience of friends. Six years ago the Chicks made the decision to work together to raise money for Alzheimer programs and services and have presented Steppin’ Out for Memories ever since. The Chicks love to throw a good party too, which is why Steppin' Out contiues to grow each year.

Artists Rule the Day
The Chicks and the Alzheimer's Association count numerous artists among their friends, almost all or whom have been touched by Alzheimer's disease in one way or another. Local artists create a work of art in response to a painting by someone with dementia who participates in Memories in the Making, the Alzheimer's Association art program for people with dementia. Both works will be displayed and auctioned as a pair.
Plus! The fabulous painter Rolando Diaz will once again catch the exuberant feel of the evening by painting a large canvas while onlookers marvel at his mastery of the brush. At the end of the evening, the original (and still wet) Diaz masterpiece will be auctioned to the highest bidder.
Everybody's favorite, The Freeride Band will entertain the crowd, with music from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
You do not want to miss this party! You will see old friends and meet new ones while browsing the many items in the silent auction and live auctions. Table sponsorship and individual tickets are available by calling Libby Connally at 325-672-2907 or libby.connally@alz.org.
