Foundations of Dementia Care is a 10-session professional education series based on the latest and best in dementia care research and the experience of direct care experts.
Teaching person-centered care, Foundations of Dementia Care helps direct care providers better connect with residents affected by dementia, improving quality of life for both residents and staff. Attendees receive all training materials and a certificate of attendance.
Our Foundations of Dementia Care classroom training program is field-tested to help care providers learn essential skills for dementia care using realistic video, case studies and interactive discussion.
- Provides an understanding of dementia and individual resident needs,
- Builds skills from simple techniques using body language, tone of voice, and physical stance to more advanced skills such as recognizing and reporting pain and strategies for fall prevention, and
- Gives supervisors the skills to model best practices and motivate staff to be independent problem solvers.
Participants may choose to attend any or all of the 10-sessions, but receive significant savings for registering in advance for five or more sessions. Although the cost is, at times, underwritten by generous sponsors and grant funding, the fee schedule for unsponsored sessions is:
