The NYC Chapter offers Support Group Leader Training Workshops 3 times a year to health care professionals and former caregivers who are interested in leading caregiver or early stage groups.

This 28 hour training opportunity is held on four consecutive Fridays. The training incorporates both didactic material with experiential group learning and includes a medical overview, interviews with early stage patients and family caregivers, an overview of services offered by the NYC chapter, as well as lectures and articles about group theory and techniques for group leadership.

This program has been approved by NASW - New York State for 24.0 contact hours under approval number A-915.

Monthly supervision groups are also available to new leaders, as well as to group leaders who are currently leading groups here in the Chapter office and in the community.
