The NYC Chapter offers Support Group Leader Training Workshops 3 times a year to health care professionals and former caregivers who are interested in leading caregiver or early stage groups.
This intensive, 4 day training opportunity incorporates both didactic material with experiential group learning and includes a medical overview, interviews with early stage patients and family caregivers, an overview of services offered by the NYC chapter, as well as lectures and articles about group theory and techniques for group leadership.
Alzheimer's Association, NYC Chapter SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0068.
This program has been approved for 22.25 contact hours.
Monthly supervision groups are also available to new leaders, as well as to group leaders who are currently leading groups here in the Chapter office and in the community.
