Dear Friend of the Chapter,

As 2009 draws to a close we thank you for being a partner in our important work.  With many charities asking for donations at this time, we deeply value that you include us among your priorities.

Many of you have been helped by the Chapter.   Some have referred others so they do not have to face this devastating disease alone.  With Alzheimer’s quickly becoming the leading public health crisis of the 21st century, many will need our help in the future.  We are here for you – to provide counsel, offer support and help you to manage the challenges.

We hope that you will consider making a year-end contribution.  Only with your generosity can we maintain our programs – free to all who need them – and sustain their high quality.  Your support has a direct and meaningful impact toward eliminating Alzheimer’s through research.  Currently, there is no cure.

In 2009 your help supported:

  • $13 million in grants to 84 scientific investigators worldwide, 14 of them in New York
  • Cultural Arts Programs at the Metropolitan and American Folk Art Museums and MoMA
  • Expansion of the popular Early Stage Services website’s features
  • Expansion of the MedicAlert + Alzheimer’s Association Safe Return program for wanderers, serving over 13,000
    New York City residents
  • Our 24-hour Helpline, counseling almost 5000 callers and over 900 New York area families
  • Diversity and Outreach programs offering home care worker training, legal and financial seminars and Family Caregiver
    Workshops in Spanish
  • Expansion of the African-American Outreach Program to Brooklyn and increased services to the Chinese-American community

When you invest in our organization, your money is spent wisely and well:  eighty-two cent of every dollar go directly to programs and services.  Your impact is expressed by a caregiving wife who writes:  “I am so much less alone in this struggle, just knowing there are programs and people out there that I can turn to.”

Thank you again for the important role you play in making our work possible.  We hope you will contribute more generously than ever to the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter.  Best wishes for a peaceful and productive New Year.
