Dementia Care Training For Professional Caregivers

Our Dementia Care Training for Professional Caregivers specifically aims to empower direct care workers from a variety of settings to provide the highest quality of care to persons with dementia.  The training is currently offered in English and Spanish.

This training meets for a full day, once a week for seven weeks, at the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter.  Trainees who complete the program receive a certificate of attendance at a formal graduation ceremony which occurs during week eight.

Topics include:

  • Communication
  • Positive physical approach
  • Person-centered care
  • Home safety
  • Behavior challenges
  • Meaningful activities
  • Family interactions
  • Cultural awareness
  • Elder abuse
  • Self-care

This nationally-recognized training has made a significant difference in the lives of persons with dementia, their family members, and those who are paid to care for them.
