The Alzheimer’s Association, NYC Chapter has a unique opportunity for someone who isn’t afraid of getting their feet wet in web development and also assist with technical support.

We are looking for candidates who have are skilled in digital development; everything from front-end to mobile. This is an open-ended position and you will be allowed to grow and manage it however you may see fit.

Ideal candidates should have experience in the following:

Platform/Languages:

  • XHTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, and JavaScript
  • ASP/C#, PHP
  • SQL Server, mySQL
  • Familiar working with a CMS

Design

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4+
  • Adobe Illustrator CS4+

IT

  • Developing and maintaining IT support for staff to focus on both end user support, as well as systems maintenance, development, and coordination.
  • Interface with our outsourced IT team to handle all hardware related issues

Not required (but a huge plus)

  • Video editing (Adobe Premiere)

Interactive skills are one thing, interaction is another-you should have strong interpersonal skills, working independently and as part of a team, on top of excellent written communication skills. We are looking for someone who is pro-active instead of re-active.

Bilingual/Bicultural Dementia Care Trainer
The Alzheimer's Association, NYC Chapter is seeking a health care professional with proficiency in Spanish to conduct dementia care training programs for professional and family caregivers.

This person will plan, implement and evaluate the trainings and the supplemental education programs for Spanish speaking populations. This will include monitoring trends in dementia care to ensure training programs reflect the most current and appropriate information.

Candidates for this Dementia Care Trainer position should have:

  • Master's Degree in the health care field (MPH, MSW, etc.)
  • proficiency in Spanish
  • experience teaching or training
  • knowledge about the Latino/Hispanic cultures and communities in NYC
  • knowledge of dementia

Bilingual / Chinese Care Consultant
The New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is dedicated to working with those New Yorkers and their caregivers who struggle with the devastating impact of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

The Chapter’s Care Consultation program supports New York's Alzheimer's community through the provision of information, referral, short-term counseling, and crisis intervention. Care Consultation services are provided via telephone, email and in-person.

We are seeking a dynamic, compassionate individual to serve as a full-time bilingual English & Chinese Care Consultant. This position reports to Vice President, Director of Education, Outreach & Caregiver Services.

The Bilingual Care Consultant will:

  • Bilingual English/Chinese required
  • Provide needs assessments, assistance with planning and problem solving, and provision of support (including information & referral, supportive listening, and follow-up as needed) to individuals and families around issues related to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
  • Provide necessary follow up to cases referred by other Chapter programs and services.
  • Record all client interactions and demographic information in our database.
  • Assist with applications for benefits and entitlements, including but not limited to Medicaid, Medicaid home care, MedicAlert + Alzheimer’s Association Safe Return®.
  • Provide assistance with translation and interpretation of documents and materials.
  • Advocate with other community based agencies to ensure services are rendered appropriately.
  • Complete and submit applications for Alzheimer’s Association special assistance grants.
  • Provide backup to callers to our 24-hour Helpline.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field required
  • Experience with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of NYC benefits & entitlements programs
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, e-mail & Internet
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously

Bilingual English / Russian MedicAlert and Safe Return Associate
Hours:
Monday-Friday 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. (some weekends required)
Location: Midtown Manhattan-Grand Central Area-Outreach to the five boroughs of NYC.
Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related area
Work experience: Minimum three years’ work experience in a related area.

Requirements and duties include but not limited to the following:

  • MedicAlert and Safe Return Assistant must speak English and Russian
  • Present the MedicAlert and Safe Return program, Alzheimer’s Disease overview, and overview of Chapter programs and services to the Russian speaking population and do on-site registration in community agencies throughout the 5 boroughs
  • Complete registration forms either over the telephone or at health fairs
    • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence
    • Confirm the enrollees address and all their contact information
    • Input data into the MedicAlert and Safe Return data base and helpline database
    • Answer phone inquires
    • Work in collaboration with the New York City Police Department
  • Translate MedicAlert and safe Return English literature and materials into Russian
  • Respond to lost and found incidents in the absence of the Safe Return Manager and/or Community Outreach Associate
  • Interpret from Russian to English to assist in care consultation
  • After hours, weekends and holiday telephone back up as needed
  • Staff chapter events-memory Walk, Gala and National Night Out Against Crime
