The Interfaith Committee of the Alzheimer's Association Orange County Chapter has established special programs and events in an effort to provide spiritual support for individuals with dementia and their families. In addition, the Interfaith program is dedicated to providing public awareness, education and support to Orange County's faith-based communities regarding Alzheimer's disease, related dementia's and promoting brain health.
Spiritually based services include:
Special religious services at various houses of worship designed to trigger long term memory
Faith-Based Caregiver Support Groups
Consultation and Education to clergy and their congregants
Annual Clergy Breakfast
Memory Walk Candle Lighting Interfaith service
Volunteer opportunities for faith based individuals to liaison between their congregation and the Alzheimer's Association Orange County Chapter.

The familiar surroundings and rituals associated with spiritual experiences can act as the some of the most powerful triggers to one’s memory. The stained glass, prayer shawls, candles, and other religious symbols serve as a recognizable reminder of what is a large part of many people’s lives.
A special Alzheimer service at your congregation can awaken this spiritual connection for Alzheimer patients in your community.

Alzheimer's disease and other memory disorders slowly deplete the emotional strength of everyone affected. It also impacts an individual's spiritual strength. As the disease continues to test our faith, we look for ways to find peace. Staying connected to our spiritual selves can help conquer the fear and anxiety created by the disease. We invite anyone interested to join us for these services, whether the patient lives at home or in a care center.
