Memories in the Making®
Memories in the Making® is a unique fine-arts program for people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Art experience is not required. The program's creative process provides a safe and validating environment for artistic expression, resulting in a creative and nonverbal way to communicate and capture precious moments through art. Memories in the Making is much more than a traditional arts and crafts class or hobby activity; it has been proven to be beneficial and therapeutic and it can stimulate the brains of persons with dementia. In this group the creative process and the stories that evolve through it are as important and meaningful as the artwork itself. The group is facilitated by professional artists and trained volunteers.
Our Early-Stage Memories in the Making program provides an opportunity for people in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias to engage in the art making process while also socializing with others going through similar life changes.
