The Alzheimer’s Association offers both Online and Classroom Training for Professional Care Providers. Studies show staff trained specifically in dementia care are able to provide better quality of life for residents and have increased confidence, productivity and job satisfaction. Our training programs utilize the practice recommendations described in the Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations which promote the principles of person-centered care.

Online Training & Certification

CARES® Dementia Care Online Training offers training in the Basics™, Advanced Care™, Dementia-Related Behavior™, and Activities of Daily Living™. These training programs offer the additional option of the Alzheimer’s Association essentiALZ® certification, an online individual certification program providing recognition for knowledge of quality dementia care practices.

Classroom Training

Foundations of Dementia Care provides classroom training in critical care areas. We will customize training to meet your needs.

You Can Now Submit Your Curricula for Review by the Alzheimer’s Association

The Alzheimer’s Association encourages companies to submit their curricula for review against the Dementia Care Practice Recommendations as the basis for recognizing quality dementia care. A formal report as well as a statement of recognition for approved categories will be issued by the Alzheimer’s Association. Companies may submit curricula for any or all of the following categories:

  1. Alzheimer’s & Dementia® Disease Awareness
  2. Strategies for Caring for the Person with Dementia
  3. Communication and Understanding Behavior
  4. Social Needs and Activities
  5. Eating Well
  6. Reducing Pain
  7. Falls
  8. Wandering
  9. Restraint-Free Care
  10. End-of-Life Care

Cost is $250.00 per curriculum plus $300.00 per topic module submitted. The number of modules to be reviewed will be finalized after receipt of the Dementia Care Education Curriculum Review Application. If you have specific questions about the review application, please contact eservices@alz.org.
