Tracy Ruiz’s profession as a hospice and home health provider puts her in frequent contact with individuals and families dealing with Alzheimer’s disease. But as a volunteer for the Alzheimer's Association Utah chapter, she goes above and beyond the work week to advocate for those touched by dementia.
Tracy first became an Alzheimer advocate after displaying her passion for the cause as her local chapter’s gala chair. Representatives from the chapter asked if she would be interested in expanding her involvement to include advocacy work.
The 2007 Forum was Tracy’s first, and the 20-year health care veteran found the Forum a place where she could “be a voice for those who don’t have a voice.”
“It was very awe-inspiring, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was very honored to be there,” she said. “I feel like I’ve made a difference.”
