Whether you're a fundraising expert or this is your first time, it's always good to return to basics. Use these tips to jump-start your efforts:
- People love to give online because it's so easy. Once you register to QUASH you will be able to build a personal Web site and send out an e-mail – yes, to your entire address book – asking for donations.
- Return to your youth. Lawn-mowing services, lemonade stands and garage sales are all still applicable. Try the grown-up version of some of these neighborhood activities, such as hosting a cookout and asking your guests to bring a donation instead of a dish.
- Advertise at the office. Hang up signs in common areas or include a blurb in an e-newsletter. You'll be surprised how many people have been affected by Alzheimer's and will want to give. Ask your company if they offer matching donations and you'll double your progress!
- Think about the community activities you participate in on a regular basis. A basketball team? Book club? Kickboxing? Bring a donation form with you next time your group gets together.
