2009 Memory Walk

2009 Memory Walk – Thank You So Much

On behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island Chapter Board of Directors and staff, we would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2009 Memory Walk. There are so many businesses, organizations and people to thank, from our Platinum Sponsor, Briarcliffe Manor & Briarcliffe Gardens to all of the other sponsors, teams, individuals, and volunteers to Torran Dooley who celebrated her 12th birthday by collecting donations for her great grandmother and to all the other people in between we thank you for an outstanding walk. Memory Walk is still our major fundraiser and our largest source of income. Memory Walk is the reason that we can help Alzheimer’s families free of charge.

For the first time, we walked in Slater Park, Pawtucket, even the weather cooperated and we all heard rave reviews. We had more people than ever walking with us, over 1,000. In Newport, the backdrop was the ocean at beautiful Salve Regina University and we had great numbers there too, more than 500. Congratulations to the top on-line fundraiser in Pawtucket, Ray Bonenfant, and to Margot Ricci who was top on-line fundraiser in Newport. The top teams this year for Pawtucket were: Bonenfant/Hampton Team, Tubodyne, and J.P. Papa Rogers and for Newport were Grand Islander Center, KVH Industries, and Atria Aquidneck Place. There were so many inspiring stories and dedicated people – we are so grateful for your generosity in the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.
Please join us as we continue to MOVE towards a cure!

YOU CAN STILL DONATE TO YOUR TEAM

About Memory Walk

The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk®, nationally presented by Genworth Financial, is our national signature event and brings together family, friends, caregivers and concerned community members — who all want to make a difference. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $200 million to help those battling Alzheimer's disease.

Memory Walk is our biggest fundraiser, and the largest single source of income.  More than 5.1 million people have Alzheimer's disease, but many more are affected by caregiving.  As a non-profit organization, the Alzheimer's Association - Rhode Island Chapter provides counseling, referral services, training classes, support groups, and a Helpline for people with Alzheimer's, their caregivers, and health professionals.

Start or Join a Team

Start your own team

First, select a walk near you and register online. You will have access to your very own Web site that you can use as your fundraising headquarters.

Starting a team is easy. Invite three people, and they'll invite three people - and before you know it, you'll have a team. Recruit family, friends and colleagues to join your team - and ask for donations. Here are some tools to help you rally your team around the cause:

Team up at work

Mobilize your co-workers - or your entire company - to form a team and make a huge impact on helping people living with Alzheimer's.
