The Alzheimer's Association offers a variety of ongoing educational programs for individuals with the disease, their families and care partners. All educational programs are evaluated against national benchmarks.
Education programs are held at different locations throughout the Alzheimer’s Association’s nine-county region. The programs are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted. Understanding Alzheimer’s disease
This informational seminar is designed for families, friends and care partners of individuals newly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The seminar provides information on Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis and treatments, explores techniques to communicate with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, identifies possible interventions for changes in behaviors and identifies resources useful to the caregivers. The seminar is regularly scheduled throughout the community. No fee.

Caregiver Education Seminars
The Alzheimer's Association offers more than 50 seminars for family caregivers on a wide variety of subjects, ranging from topics such as “Dementia vs. Normal Aging” to “Managing Challenging Behaviors.” The one-hour seminars provide an overview of topics pertinent to caregivers and families and offer opportunities for questions and answers. Presentation outlines and references are provided to participants. No Fee.

Education for Businesses, Organizations and Volunteers
With a rapidly aging population and the alarming prediction of the prevalence of this troubling disease without a cure, Alzheimer's has become a public health crisis. This crisis directly impacts employers, employees, customers, and their families. Educational programs are available for business partners in the financial, insurance, banking, retail, and human service industries to help facilitate healthy relationships with individuals with dementia and their caregivers.
Volunteer Training
Programs are available for docents, ushers, and other volunteers who may work in hospitals, senior communities, or home care organizations. Volunteer training is tailored to meet the unique needs of the organization after an initial assessment.
