The Alzheimer's Association offers a variety of ongoing educational programs targeted to health care and social services professionals as well as customized speaking engagements and consultative services. All educational programs are evaluated against national benchmarks. Some educational programs offer continuing education contact hours.

Education programs are held at the Alzheimer’s Association and at different locations throughout the Association’s nine-county region. A current listing of program offerings, dates and locations, can be requested by calling the Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.

Train the Trainer
The internationally recognized Train the Trainer program is designed to provide staff educators as well as professional caregivers specialized training in dementia care. Teaching materials, including interactive applications, and handouts are provided. The program is comprised of a total of 12 courses: seven core courses and five electives. The courses are three or six hours in length. Attendees who complete the seven core courses receive a certificate of completion, a manual and a CD PowerPoint presentation of the seven courses. Continuing education contact hours available. Fee.

Professional Workshops
Educational workshops for professionals in the field of dementia care. The workshops cover key topics including communication, managing behavioral issues, and activities for dementia specific care. Continuing education contact hours available. Fee.

In-service Training
The Alzheimer's Association has developed professional in-service on-site programs in order to meet both the service providers’ demand for flexible professional education options and the need to address staff development within the global organizational structure of the facility. These highly tailored offerings for residential care include on-site visits and assessment, and educational programs designed to meet the specific needs of the facility and to develop staff competencies. Web-based Courses
Online courses match the highest content standards with the convenience and flexibility of the web-based education. Courses offer continuing education credits for those who complete a brief post-test and evaluation. For a list of current online offerings, please visit the main page of course listings. Fee.
