You can make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

The Alzheimer's Association provides opportunities for dedicated community individuals and groups to participate in a wide variety of roles. There are many ways to volunteer:

Friendly Connections
Friendly Connections is a telephone support network where volunteers make follow up calls to families and caregivers under the supervision of a Care Coordinator. Volunteers work must be performed onsite at Alzheimer’s Association offices located at 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester NY. Training is provided. Commitment of two times per month.

Hounds with Heart
Make visits with a handler and their dog to private residences of those with dementia to spark memories and offer comfort and companionship. Commitment of two times per month.

Host or Hostess
Provide social and emotional support to families and individuals affected by dementia who attend agency events. Assist as needed with set up and clean up. Commitment dependent on activity.

Support Group Facilitators
Facilitate a community support group for caregivers, friends and families of people with dementia. Most groups meet once each month.

Supportive Activity Project Manager
Collaborate with chapter staff in creating, marketing and managing supportive activity program. Responsible for implementing the program, monitoring the activity while in progress, and reporting back to chapter staff.

Health Fairs
Work with staff of the Alzheimer’s Association at local health fairs. Assist in setting up the displays and distributing informational materials.

Advocacy Volunteer
Work with staff of the Alzheimer’s Association as an Advocate. What is an Advocate? An advocate is a person who uses their VOICE to further legislative priorities by taking specific actions. Some actions you can take to further legislative priorities are: send an email; call; and/or visit members of Congress; sign petitions; attend town halls; volunteer at agency events such as Walk to End Alzheimer’s, etc. Are you ready to take action?
