Addressing Behavior Through Compassionate Communication
Communication is more than the ability to exchange words; it is the ability to connect with someone. Upon completion of this program, attendees will be able to articulate tips to improve their overall communication skills with memory-impaired individuals. They will also be able to identify communication techniques that can play a key role in coping with specific challenging behaviors such as wandering, shadowing, and agitation.

Family Orientation
The Family Orientation is designed for family caregivers who are new to the disease. This interactive orientation provides an overview of memory loss and dementia, as well as an opportunity to begin connecting with other Alzheimer’s Association programs and services. All attendees will receive a free copy of “Coach Broyles’ Caregiver Playbook.”

Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection Matters
Current data suggests that less than 35 percent of people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias have a diagnosis of the condition in their medical record. The Alzheimer’s Association’s, Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection Matters workshop provides attendees with information about the difference between normal aging and Alzheimer’s disease, the benefits of early detection, as well as tips to follow up on any concerns that attendees may have about themselves or someone they care about.

Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers: Early-Stage
In the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, families face new questions as they adjust. What does the diagnosis mean? What kind of plans need to be made? What kinds of resources are available to help? Join us for this two-part series to hear practical answers to the questions that arise in early stage. Hear from those directly affected and learn what you can do to cope with the changes that come with an early-stage diagnosis.

In the middle stages of Alzheimer’s disease, those who were care partners now become hands-on caregivers. As the disease progresses, new questions reflect growing needs for skills, programs and services. Join us for this two-part series to discuss helpful strategies to provide safe, effective and comfortable care in the middle stages of Alzheimer’s. Topics covered will include understanding the changes occurring in middle stage, coping strategies, care and treatment options, communication and connecting, and maximizing independence and safety.
