Why participate in Memory Walk?
Help the Alzheimer’s Association move toward our mission of one day living in a world without Alzheimer’s and join us for the 2009 Memory Walk! Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs. We are the place to come to for help and hope by providing care and support to those living with and affected by Alzheimer’s.
Be an Alzheimer's Champion in your community - join Memory Walk to help move the cause forward. Champions include those living with the disease, families, caregivers, and corporate and community leaders who actively support Memory Walk in our community.
As many as 5.3 million Americans nationwide and 116,000 in Wisconsin are living with Alzheimer's disease. Almost ten million people are providing care. Alzheimer’s is not normal aging - it is a progressive and fatal disease, and now is the time to address this escalating epidemic. By attending Memory Walk, whether you walk or not, you not only support the Association financially, but you also show elected officials that you support Alzheimer issues.
There are seven walks to choose from that support the South Central Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, and it's our largest fundraiser of the year. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you there!
A little history
Memory Walk began in 1989 with nine Alzheimer’s Association chapters raising $149,000 from 1,249 participants. In 1993, Memory Walk went nationwide and raised $4.5 million at 167 sites.
