In 2009 the chapter was proud to host 9 walks throughout southeastern Virginia. A combination of new venues and strong leadership brought a new energy to the walks resulting in more teams, more participants, and more funds raised. Together, the 9 walks exceeded the combined goal by over $60,000! SOUTH HAMPTON ROADS
The South Hampton Roads walk, locally presented by Stephens Financial Partners, featured a 3 mile scenic walk along the Virginia Beach oceanfront boardwalk. We gathered at Neptune Park on a brisk Sunday morning where we had more walkers than ever before, 774 to be exact.
This year the Peninsula walk almost doubled their fundraising goal. Port Warwick provided a beautiful setting for 665 walkers committed to finding a cure for this disease. A 2009 Honda FIT, donated by Peninsula Honda, was raffled off and awarded to Maria Stepp, a 31 year-old Newport News resident. WILLIAMSBURG
598 people gathered to walk through Colonial Williamsburg to end Alzheimer’s early on Nov. 7th. The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful as participants raised more funds than ever before to support local chapter services. |
