Rona’s Ride for Memories and Alzheimer's

Rona Altschuler, our volunteer Peninsula Walk to End Alzheimer's Chair, has started raising money already for her 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s team. She will be biking 3,100 miles from California to Florida with WomanTours to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease and to celebrate the memory of her mother, Joyce S. Price, who passed away in 2011.

“I didn’t even have a bike when I decided to do this!” said Rona. But her days of running marathons were coming to an end and while on a plane ride she heard a man excitedly talking about his own bike trip. “I wanted to do that since I was 11; I used to ride my bike everywhere!” said Rona. So on March 7, Rona will begin her ride in California. During the ride, on April 23, Rona will celebrate her 60th birthday!

In addition to raising awareness of Alzheimer's disease, Rona's Ride also provides a fundraising opportunity. Money raised through Walk to End Alzheimer's® will help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into the prevention, treatment, and cure  for Alzheimer's, as well as funding the many educational and support services currently available to help the millions already affected.
