Family Caregiver Education

Family Caregiver Education is specifically designed by topic to help caregivers through specific challenges.

Family Orientation

Orientation sessions for families of recently diagnosed individuals are available each month. Orientations cover a variety of information including and overview of Alzheimer's disease, first steps to take after receiving a diagnosis and helpful community resources.

All orientations are FREE, but registration is required.

EASTERN SHORE
When: Appointments available as needed.
Where: Eastern Shore Branch office.

NORFOLK
When: The 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
And 3rd Wednesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. 
Where: Norfolk Chapter office.

PENINSULA
When: 3rd Tuesday of each month,  5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Sentara CarePlex, Hampton (Conf Rm. A).

SOUTH CENTRAL
Call 800.272.3900 to schedule an appointment.

WESTERN TIDEWATER
When: 2nd Wednesday of each month, 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
Where: Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 400 N. High Street, Franklin.

Register: You must call 800.272.3900 to RSVP at least 2 days in advance.

WILLIAMSBURG
When: Appointments available as needed.
Where: Williamsburg Office.

NEW - essentiALZ™ 

Launched November 1, 2011 to kick-off National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month, the new essentiALZ™ training and certification program will recognize professional caregivers (as well as family and friends who provice unpaid care) for learning quality dementia care practices.
