About professional training
The Alzheimer's Association is committed to helping professionals improve their knowledge and skills, build stronger teams and deliver better care to people with dementia and their families. Our training and education programs are geared to professionals working in both community-based and residential care settings.
Our programs and meetings have been attended by activity professionals, administrators, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers and staff trainers. Many of our programs offer CEUs.
Custom training programs
The Chapter is now offering a new way for facilities and other agencies involved in caregiving to obtain the training needed for their administrators and staff. Annual Training Contracts are not only cost saving but allow supervisors responsible for scheduling training to choose from over 22 hours of topics integral to the care of dementia clients – and schedule that training with a simple phone call or fax to the Chapter. These trainings can help you meet the Commonwealth’s training requirements.
Annual training contracts are sold in “trainer hour” blocks. A trainer hour is one hour of one of our trainers, in your facility, for as many of your employees as you would like to attend. Certificates of attendance which indicate contact hours and topics are mailed directly to you for ease of documentation.
Contracts are available in a variety of sizes to match most training needs and budgets. Of course, as the size of the contract goes up, the cost to you per training hour goes down. Currently offered contracts include 22 hours for $1800 up to 100 hours for $6000. Call Patricia Lacey at (757) 459-2405 to create a contract to fit your specific needs.
