About Memory Walk
The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk® is our national signature fundaising event that brings together family, friends, caregivers and concerned community members who all want to make a difference. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $200 million nationally to help those battling Alzheimer's disease.
In 2007, we hosted five Memory Walks which raised more than $500,000. Over 10,000 people (4,289 Walkers backed by 5,333 Supporters and 454 Walk volunteers) combined to raise dollars and awareness, and they had a great time.
In 2008 we will again host five Memory Walks in Southeastern Wisconsin, and aim to supass the 2007 goal.
This kind of focused growth is possible by our mission to eliminate Alzheimer's in the future, and to provide care and support to all in need right now. With your help we will keep the momentum alive!

Start a team
Forming a team for the Memory Walk can multiply your impact on the fight against Alzheimer's. Together, as a team, you are a force much greater than what you can accomplish alone.
We encourage teams to be groups of 10-12 people - family members, co-workers, neighbors, or friends - who together raise funds and bring their collective enthusiasm to the Walk. For large teams, we encourage the group to split into units of 10-12 walkers. Walkers that raise $100 in pledges are entitled to a "MOVE" t-shirt. Teams are recognized with awards (including a traveling plaque) for the most pledge dollars and the team that raises the most money per walker.
Team leaders should register online (by clicking on the desired Walk location above) or by calling Alzheimer's Assocation office at 414.479.8800 to reserve an invitation to the kick off event in your area. Kicks-offs will be held between late June and late July. Information and resources about how to recruit additional participants and meet your team fundraising goal will be distributed.
Fundraising Tools
Those who register online have access to additional tools to help reach their fundraising goals. Once registered, the you can send emails directly to your friends and colleagues asking for their support. You can also set up a personal web page and chart your fundraising progress.
The attached "Tips for Fundraising Success" outlines some easy ways to raise $100 and more in 10 weeks/days or 5 weeks/days.
Use the "Official Sponsorship Form" from the Walk brochure to record pledges from friends and colleagues.
With enthusiasm, creativity, and planning you will exceed your goal in no time and be rewarded with the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing your part to bring help and hope to the individuals and families with this devastating disease.
Make an in-kind donation
Memory Walks are widely known for being fun and festive events, thanks to hundreds of volunteers and generous contributors of in-kind donations - from food and entertainment to prizes and publicity. We are committed to keeping Walk expenses as low as possible so that all the funds raised can go to support local chapter services.
Please consider donating a product or service from your company and receive recognition in the Walk day program. Contact Pat Miller at 414.479.8800 for more information.
Volunteer for a Memory Walk
Each of the five Memory Walks depends on the volunteer efforts of a local steering committee to plan and cordinate numerous details, such as team and walker recruitment; entertainment; food and beverages, prizes, registration, logistics, and publicity. There is a place and a role for everyone who would like to get involved. If you can't commit to a long-term assignment, there are many one-time tasks, such as distributing Walk brochures or working at a water stop on the day of the Walk. Let us know how you'd like to help by calling Pat Miller at the chapter office: 414.479.8800.
