Siouxland Senior Open 2009
Once again, Siouxland seniors grabbed their golf clubs and friends to show support for the Alzheimer’s Association by playing in our 17th annual Siouxland Senior Open. Ninety golfers participated in this year’s event at Two Rivers Golf Course in North Sioux City, South Dakota.
The Siouxland Senior Open is a benefit tournament that features male golfers age 50 and older. All proceeds raised directly benefit Senior Day Services, the Alzheimer's Association’s adult day service. The tournament establishes Siouxland’s senior golf champion, recognized with the Dale Mogren Memorial Plaque and the Gunderson’s Cup. This year Tom Bohenkamp became a two-time event champion. First winning in 2004, Tom gave a repeat winning performance to win the tournament. Additional awards were presented at the evening banquet showcasing the best score in each age category.
Our Senior Day Services program is an activity –based program for older adults with cognitive impairments, including those with Alzheimer’s disease. Established in 1995, the program remains dedicated to providing individuals with a safe, supervised, and social environment while offering respite to their caregivers.
It is great community support, for events like the Senior Open, which allow the Big Sioux Chapter to continue our mission to offer help and hope! For information on participating next year, please contact kim.mccormick@alz.org.
