Director, Regional Services (Northwest Iowa Office)

 

Part-time (20 hr/wk) position based in the Northwest Iowa Branch Office in Sheldon, IA.

The Director, Regional Services will be responsible for promoting the Chapter’s local programming, increasing public awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, coordinating care and support for those affected by the disease, and coordinating the local Memory Walk.hours.

Requirements: Ability to travel throughout four Northwest Iowa counties (Lyon, Sioux, Osceola and O'Brien).  Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in working with volunteers, caregivers, and providers.

Internship opportunities

 

An internship at the Alzheimer's Association provides students with real-world experience working at a not-for-profit organization and the opportunity to learn and contribute to the Association's vision of a world without Alzheimer's disease. In our internship program, students become a part of a departmental team that works with other areas within our organization. As a result, they get exposed to a variety of career tracks such as:
  • Program and services delivery and development
  • Fundraising
  • Public relations
  • Bookkeeping

Our internship program is designed to attract and introduce a diverse group of students to the world of not-for-profit work; provide the Association with the enthusiasm, energy, and idealism that students bring to their work; and educate, mentor, and prepare students for potential employment with the Alzheimer’s Association.

Criteria for internship - Student must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university. They must also have:

  • Class standing of at least a sophomore level
  • A cumulative GPA 3.0 or better
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Internship sessions - The Alzheimer's Association's internship sessions run:

  • Summer (June – August)
  • Fall (September – December)
  • Spring (January – May)

Business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
