An Alzheimer’s Association support group is an open gathering of people with common needs and interests who come together to share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared challenges of dementia in a safe environment. Support groups may include persons with dementia as well as caregivers. They are held at various times, locations and languages.
Telephone Support Group Are you a home-based Alzheimer's caregiver? Our Telephone Support Groups could be perfect for you. They are great option if you cannot attend an in-person group due to transportation and respite issues. Telephone Support Groups are free, offered monthly both in English and Spanish, and are moderated by trained facilitators. Share ideas, advice, and ask questions from the comfort of your home. Lead a Support Group Training is provided to become an Alzheimer's Association, California Southland Chapter affiliated support group facilitator. As a facilitator you are helping families directly affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Potential support group leaders must have a desire to facilitate the support process. Both professionals and laypeople can become support group facilitators. A leader must commit to facilitating a group at least once per month.
