Volunteers Help Us Help Our Families

The Alzheimer’s Association counts on 35,000 volunteers nationwide to help fulfill our mission. Please consider joining us to help support the nearly 180,000 families in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties who are currently dealing with Alzheimer’s disease.

Now is a great time to volunteer and we’ll provide the training!

Whether you have one hour to give us or a few hours each week, we can find the right fit for your interest and skills. Volunteer opportunities are available in our Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, East Los Angeles, Inland Empire and Coachella Valley offices and, in some cases, you may be able to volunteer from the comfort of your own home computer. Please contact Rob Allen, our Volunteer & Community Relations Manager, by calling (323) 930-6283 or email rob.allen@alz.org to fill out an application and schedule your orientation.

We currently have the following volunteer opportunities available:

  .

"Memory Mornings" Presenter
You’ll participate in our innovative activities program for persons with mid-stage dementia and their care givers. We are searching for talented people who would like to share their expertise and hobbies directly with our families. Do you create art? Can you instruct exercise programs such as tai chi or yoga? Are you a performer? Share your talents. We welcome your creativity.

Support Group Facilitator
You’ll be able to help families directly affected by Alzheimer’s disease by leading a support group and providing much needed emotional support. Group leadership training skills and education about Alzheimer's and dementia will be provided; all you need is the desire to help!

  Speakers Bureau
You’ll deliver educational presentations to community organizations like the Rotary Club, Lions Club, care facilities, churches and other places of worship.
    Fair Host
You’ll represent the Association at health fairs and conferences where we distribute information about Alzheimer’s disease and the work of the Association.
    Special Event Support
You’ll help coordinate, decorate, assist with registration and data entry, and provide follow-up correspondence for our three Memory Walks and other fundraising events.
    Office Receptionist
You’ll be the first point of contact to meet and greet callers and visitors to our Association office.
    Helpline
You’ll respond to calls into our 24 hour Helpline from families and individuals seeking help and support for the challenges of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Training is provided and shifts are available 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Mon-Fri.
    Data Entry Clerk
You’ll work with various members of our staff to compile data and enter it into computer spreadsheets or other database programs.
    E-Advocacy
You’ll help us with our e-mail outreach campaigns to connect our local, state and federal legislators state to the legislative issues affecting our Alzheimer’s families in Southern California.

We have many other volunteer opportunities. If you have a specific skill we haven’t listed or if you are bilingual, we will work with you to determine the best volunteer position within our organization.

Please contact Rob Allen, our Volunteer Program Manager by calling (323) 930-6283 or email rob.allen@alz.org to complete an application and schedule your orientation.
