St. Louis Alzheimer's Association - Job Description
Family Services Community Resources Intern

The Community Resources Intern helps update and compile community resource lists and tip sheets for distribution to caregiving families. This job provides a vital service to families who need support and guidance when caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease. The internship can be done for university credit (through career services) or for resume experience, and is unpaid.

The Community Resources Assistant reports to the Helpline Coordinator.

Responsibilities:
• Complete volunteer application, confidentiality policy, and other paperwork as required by the Alzheimer's Association.
• Assist in updating resource materials for family members of the Alzheimer’s Association. This work includes your choice of tasks:
1. Making simple and friendly phone calls to verify and update contact information. Everyone to be contacted has asked to be included in the lists,
and a script is provided. (No selling, recruiting or fundraising is involved.)
2. Using a computer with MS Word to type necessary changes. Computer training is provided.
• Assist Helpline Coordinator with Tip Sheets and conceptual projects as able.

Qualifications:
• Good organizational skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Legible handwriting & printing
• A friendly telephone voice
• Willingness to learn word processing to update lists (optional)
• Willingness to learn email and Internet to update lists (optional)
• Knowledge of dementia and the goals of the Alzheimer's Association
• Understanding of the Chapter’s mission and programs
• Full understanding and compliance with confidentiality policy
• Completion of Volunteer Basic Training within 90 days of start date

Time Commitment: Hours are flexible and negotiable. Minimum of one semester commitment required. Note: This job can take place during daytime business hours at the Alzheimer's Association office, or some lists may be worked on from home at any time.
