Communications and Development
Development Assistant Internship

The development assistant supports all revenue streams including major donor, planned giving, events, direct mail and volunteer giving by handling correspondence, clerical and other portions of infrastructure to advance giving/donor moves. Does not include face-to-face major donor solicitation, but can include other solicitation, depending on student’s interest and experience. The internship can be done for university credit (through career services) or for resume experience, and is unpaid.
The development assistant reports to the Director of Communications and Development, but may support the Events Coordinator and Database Coordinator at times.

Responsibilities:
• Work with development director, and several staff coordinators to ensure accurate snapshot of volunteer giving
• Maintain accurate files on major donors.
• Assist with relationship-building mailings/letters, including writing memos
• Assist with donor moves management.
• Other projects as assigned including: Creation of a “Third Party” fundraising manual for organization who host events to benefit the Association; conceptualizing and implementing Memory Walk In Schools; others as able.
• Complete volunteer application, confidentiality policy, and other paperwork as required by the Alzheimer's Association.

Qualifications:
• Strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Strong writing skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Understanding of the Chapter’s mission and programs
• Full understanding and compliance with confidentiality policy
• Completion of Volunteer Basic Training within 90 days of start date

Time Commitment: Hours are flexible and negotiable. Minimum of one semester commitment required.
