Education and Library Internship

The Education and Library Intern assists visitors in the Library and helps with assorted support tasks in our library and our education department. The experience is designed to provide a wellrounded and practical hands-on educational experience for the student. The internship can be done for university credit (through career services) or for resume experience, and is unpaid.

The Education and Library Intern reports to the Education Administrative Support Specialist

Responsibilities:
• Complete volunteer application, confidentiality policy, and other paperwork as required by the Alzheimer's Association.
• Assist with various tasks in the Education Department.
• Greet and assist walk-ins to the library.
• Advise families, support groups, and others on materials.
• Learn circulation procedures for books and videos.
• Check out books, videos and other materials to library visitors.
• Make copies & re-stock materials on shelves.
• Word processing as needed.
• Filing and return books and videos to shelves as needed.
• Register families for classes; through mail, phone in & website; enter into
spreadsheet.
• Be available to answer phones and back up switchboard if needed.
• Attend and perhaps present at speaking engagements (depending on comfort level and interest)
• Refer walk-ins to Helpline volunteer or Family Services department as necessary.

Qualifications:
• Good people skills.
• Knowledge of the Association and library resources.
• Organized.
• Detail oriented.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease (training provided)
• Understanding of the Chapter’s mission and programs
• Full understanding and compliance with confidentiality policy
• Completion of Volunteer Basic Training within 90 days of start date

Time Commitment: Hours are flexible and negotiable. Minimum of one semester commitment required.

Fall Internship – September 15
Spring Internship – January 15
Summer Internship – May 15
