Volunteer Coordinator Assistant Internship

The Volunteer Coordinator Assistant Intern position is designed to provide support for the Volunteer Coordinator as well a well-rounded and practical hands-on human relations educational experience for the student. The internship can be done for university credit (through career services) or for resume experience, and is unpaid.

Responsibilities:
• Complete volunteer application, confidentiality policy, and other paperwork as required by the Alzheimer's Association.
• Interview volunteer prospects
• Research national and local volunteer programs
• Assist with arrangements for monthly volunteer training sessions
• Train and supervise volunteers
• Recruit new volunteers
• Organizational development, administration and management
• Assist with special projects
• Create student projects
• Place phone calls as needed according to a script
• Help with Speaker’s Bureau tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
• Good people and organizational skills
• Willingness to learn and try new things
• Ability to work with a supervisor and share projects
• Professionalism
• Self-starter or self-motivated
• Able to work with indirect supervision in busy environment
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Understanding of the Chapter’s mission and programs
• Full understanding and compliance with confidentiality policy
• Completion of Volunteer Basic Training within 90 days of start date

Time Commitment: The ideal intern will work and learn for around 5-8 hours per week. All hours are flexible and negotiable. Minimum of one semester commitment requested.
