Fall 2009 Caring & Coping Caregiver Training Sessions
KEY NOTE SPEAKER: Monica Vest Wheeler, Author Monica Vest Wheeler is an author and speaker, best known for her work on the Help ME Cope & Survive! book series. Monica’s warm and engaging speaking style is helping to bridge the silence that is so pervasive for those dealing with disease, loss and crisis.
The former newspaper reporter and editor has written books, including Alzheimer’s Dementia & Memory Loss: Straight Talk for Families and Caregivers, that focus on human relationships, personalities and history.
Soon to be released are separate books on coping with brain injuries, strokes, and brain tumors-brain cancer through her company, “Turning Empathy into Action.” She lives in Peoria, Illinois with her husband, Roger (and two cats). They have a son, Gordo.

PURPOSE: Join us for a valuable and practical training for family care partners, volunteers and professional care providers facing Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. After the day-long session, participants should have a better understanding of the disease, its process and available treatments. Plus, they will learn practical tips for caring for individuals with dementia.

REGISTRATION : Advanced registration is required and seating is limited. The fee includes materials, refreshments and lunch. In order to better accomodate conference attendees, registration will be accepted by mail, phone, fax or online. Registration fees are due at the time of registration.
