Making Sense of Alzheimer’s

2014 marks the 5th year that the Alzheimer’s Association and the Utah Symphony | Utah Opera have collaborated –two organizations that know Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias affect people’s cognitive abilities, but not their senses.  In fact, the joy of seeing and hearing professional musicians perform has a positive effect on functionality.

The Making Sense of Alzheimer’s event this year will begin with a reception and performance on Saturday, May 2, 2014.  Presenting on Saturday night will be Dr. Heather Snyder, Director of Medical and Scientific Relations at the Alzheimer’s Association and the Association’s International Research Grant Program.

Throughout the month of May, musicians from the Utah Symphony | Utah Opera will be volunteering their time and talent to perform at various assisted living communities in the Salt Lake Area. Dates, times and locations are coming soon!

Blondes vs. Brunettes
Alzheimer's Association Blondes vs. Brunettes is a volunteer event driven by young women that brings the passion and spirit of young community leaders together to support the Alzheimer’s Association. The event is an organized flag football game in which the two participating teams are divided based on the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes (Note: Redheads are “free agents,” permitted to play for the team of their choice). Funds raised at Blondes vs. Brunettes events benefit the care, support, advocacy and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Blondes vs Brunettes in coming to Utah soon!
