Events And Promotions Requirements

The Alzheimer's Association, Western New York Chapter encourages companies, organizations and individuals that wish to hold a promotion, event, or sale to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.  We are grateful for dollars raised through events -- they help the Chapter provide programs and services to individuals and families struggling with Alzheimer's disease.  And we are anxious to help these efforts as much as we can.

Each third-party fundraising proposal that is received is carefully reviewed and we base our approval on the criteria below.  These rules apply only to event organizers who wish to use the name of the Alzheimer's Association and our logo in promoting the event, and not to companies organizing internal employee Memory Walk teams.   Because of the volume of events conducted we regret that we cannot personally participate in each event that is proposed, but we will help you with your planning as detailed below and in the “Checklist for Success”.

Please use the “Third-Party Fundraiser Proposal Form” to obtain Alzheimer's Association approval for any event in the beginning of planning the event.

  • The use of the name and logo of the Alzheimer's Association may not be used in any way without
prior permission. The official logo (in various file formats) will be made available upon approval.
  • The Alzheimer's Association does not endorse any product or services.
  • A minimum of 2-4 weeks lead time is required for prior review of the proposed event plan.
  • If prizes or sponsorships are solicited, our staff will review the requests to be sure they do not conflict
with other events or programs of the Association.
  • Event expenses can be deducted from the gross revenue raised.
  • All Federal IRS rules and regulations regarding tax deductibility of donations must be rigorously
    followed.
  • The Alzheimer's Association staff asks to review press releases and materials prior to distribution.
  • The Alzheimer's Association does not purchase advertising to promote third-party events.
  • The Alzheimer's Association is not responsible for providing liability insurance for a third-party
event or promotion.  Where appropriate, event organizers indemnify and hold harmless the
Alzheimer's Association from all liability, losses and expenses arising from the event or promotion.
Association staff are required to review proposed events to determine liability exposure; we may seek
legal counsel to complete that evaluation.
  • Association staff will review all requests for staff or Association-supplied volunteer participation and
allocate only those agency resources that are appropriate and available.
  • The Alzheimer's Association does not make its mailing list available to third parties without chapter
    Development Department approval.
  • The Alzheimer’s Association may, at its discretion, provide notifications of third-party events to its
constituents to encourage participation at the event.

Leave a Legacy

Estate Planning is an important step in building your future.  Safeguarding your property and the possessions you have worked so hard for during your lifetime is necessary, because without a plan, a stranger will make the decisions about who receives what was once yours.  Legacy gifts are made by those individuals who have included the Alzheimer’s Association, Western New York Chapter, in their will or have established funds through one of the planed giving vehicles, that can provide income for life or significant tax advantages ow.  In doing so, this group of individuals is helping to guarantee the future success of the Alzheimer’s Association.  Their contributions will touch the lives of countless families who have been affected by this devastating illness in the years ahead.  If interested, you are encouraged to work with a financial planner and our Director of Development to determine what is the best strategy for you.
