State Advocacy
In mid-November, the Council of State Governments (CSG) held its
annual meeting in Oklahoma City. CSG is comprised of state government
officials in all three branches of government from across the country.
The Association was well represented at a two-hour policy workshop
on Alzheimer issues and in our booth with materials outlining Association
policy positions and general information about the Association and
the disease.
The CSG members voted to include the Association’s model state
government Alzheimer’s disease plan legislation in the highly regarded
book of suggested state legislation produced bi-annually by CSG,
a move that will add significant clout to the Association’s efforts
to enact such legislation in states nationwide. Support and exposure
like this to large numbers of state policy makers will certainly
enhance nationwide momentum on Alzheimer policy issues. |
