Meeting focus: Early Detection
The latest Zenith
Society meeting was held on November 16, 2007 in Chicago. It
was extremely enriching and insightful – and one of the most comprehensive
Zenith meetings in history. The theme of the meeting was early detection,
and members and guests in attendance had the rare opportunity to
hear about the importance of this issue from a number of different
perspectives – from leaders in research, imaging, and care as well
as from someone living in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
The meeting featured presentations by a member of the Alzheimer’s
Association’s Early Stage Advisory Group; Dr. Dennis Selkoe, a leading
expert on early detection of Alzheimer’s at Harvard Medical School
Brigham and Women’s Hospital; and Dr. Kim Gallagher, an imaging
expert at G.E. Healthcare.
Senator Richard Durbin, D-Ill.
(Running time 2:47)
Video message from Senator Durbin, thanking Zenith Society members for their commitment to Alzheimer’s disease research at their fall meeting.
Society completes latest Zenith Challenge
The Zenith Society also welcomed three new Zenith members, whose
$1 million gifts will not only bolster research and care efforts
at the Association, but also met the most recent Zenith Challenge.
Zenith Challenges are brought forth by members to raise the bar
in giving by their peers and to bring in new members. Now, in addition
to the three new gifts, the Zenith member who initiated a challenge
at the spring Zenith meeting will be renewing their pledge of $1
million, for a total of $4 million.
Three separate Zenith Challenges have now raised over $20 million
for the Alzheimer's Association! |
