The Longest Day

For people facing Alzheimer's disease,
every day is The Longest Day®.

Join teams of volunteers from area businesses and organizations in raising awareness for Alzheimer’s disease, and honoring those living with the disease and their caregivers, on The Longest Day: Thursday, June 21, 2018.

Held annually on the summer solstice, The Longest Day is a sunrise-to-sunset initiative started by the Alzheimer’s Association to honor the strength and endurance of those living with the disease and their caregivers.

During the month of June (or on The Longest Day itself), teams complete activities of their choosing: some have selected their favorite endurance exercise, such as running, kayaking, or hiking; others have picked a favorite activity of a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, such as reading or knitting. Participating teams collect donations to advance Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

To start a team or get additional information on The Longest Day, contact Marcy Schulman, signature events coordinator, at mschulman@alz.org or call 800.272.3900, or visit alz.org/TLD.

Start a Team

Starting a team for The Longest Day is as easy: pick your favorite activity, register at: alz.org/TLD, and recruit your friends and colleagues.

Play bridge, host a marathon or a pool party, rock climb, scrapbook, read. What ever your interest, you can help fight Alzheimer's disease on The Longest Day. If you're still looking for ideas, here are some examples.

Contact Marcy Schulman, signature events coordinator, at mschulman@alz.org or call 800.272.3900 for more information.

But Thursday, June 21 may not work for me:

The Alzheimer's Association recognizes that some teams/individuals may have conflicts or challenges with participating on a weekday. Embrace activities and fundraising leading up to June 21 and take some time to celebrate accomplishments and honor those facing Alzheimer's on the actual day. The goal is to participate in a way that works with your schedule.

The Longest Day Planning Committee Breakfast (2018)

June may seem far away, but The Longest Day 2018 is already entering the planning phase and is seeking volunteers to serve on the committee. If you are interested in growing the Alzheimer’s Association’s second signature event, held on the summer solstice during Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, than plan to visit our Hudson office on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 8:30 a.m. for a breakfast discussion. Find out more or RSVP to: mschulman@alz.org.
