Major Gifts Officer - EAST (GA, FL)

General Summary

The Alzheimer's Association National Office is looking for a dynamic, experienced professional to cultivate, solicit and steward major gift individuals and families in the eastern region of the United States, specifically the Georgia (based in Atlanta), Southeast Florida, and Florida Gulf Coast territories. The development work includes building major gift portfolio in this geographic area and securing multiple gifts in the $10,000-$1 million + categories.

The ideal candidate should reside in Atlanta and will report to the East Region Director of Principal & Major Gifts.

Travel approximately 40%-50% of the time actively developing donor relationships and partners to advance our major and planned gift activities/revenue.

Time allocation: working in the filed visiting and meeting with donors; working at chapter(s) offices developing internal relationships; and working from home when needed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Participate in and remain accountable for, setting goals and strategies to meet revenue objectives for this territory.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of 80-120 qualified major gift donors/prospects.
  • In building the portfolio, qualify, cultivate and solicit for gifts over $10,000+ to meet/exceed revenue objectives.
  • Cultivate and solicit six to seven figure gifts and mature the major gift portfolio in the territory towards this larger giving direction, over time.
  • Effectively communicate and work closely with national and chapter leadership, specifically the chapter executive director and board volunteers on major gift activities including donor strategy, visits, solicitations and stewardship.
  • Adhere to professionalism and fundraising best practices as demonstrated by moves management industry standards and donor-centered methodology.
  • Contribute to the national major gift team as we continue to build and expand major and principal gifts across the Alzheimer's Association.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3-5 years minimum required experience in major gift fundraising, 5-7 years preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Deep understanding of the major gift development process with the experience and maturity to manage and drive the process to meet and exceed strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated success in personal solicitation of major gifts - at the six and seven figure level preferably.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of leadership, both staff and volunteer.
  • Expertise in fundraising database, word processing, expense management and spreadsheet software.
