General Summary

The Alzheimer's Association, Oregon National Chapter, is  seeking  an  Associate Director of Programs  to plan and execute all programs and services in support of the Alzheimer's Association Common Program Plan and in accordance with our FY12-FY14 strategic plan. This position, based in the Portland office, but working throughout Oregon state, provides information, manages and executes care consultations, support groups, education programs, safety services and early stage programs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide oversight for the statewide delivery of the chapter's services and educational programs, including planning, goal projection, budgeting and program evaluation.
  • Actively participate in the Chapter's Leadership Team to ensure effective integration of strategic goals and initiatives into program work plans.
  • Develop cost-effective and high impact program delivery methods and monitor data analysis and quality of service.
  • Work with Leadership Team to develop strategies for marketing and promoting chapter services and education programs throughout the state of Oregon.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with related medical, health care and social service organizations other care providers throughout the state of Oregon.
  • Assure compliance with all Association policies, standards and applicable regulatory requirements; promote Association-wide initiatives and programs.
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, coaching and supervision of chapter program staff.
  • Represent the Association at public events, conferences, workshops and media events.
  • Provide or review content for chapter communications including publications, media articles and press releases, newsletters, mailings and brochures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent work experience in social work, gerontology, art therapy, health care management, counseling or a related field.
  • Three years of leadership experience in community-based program administration including needs assessment, program development, delivery, management and evaluation.
  • Three years of experience supervising professional staff and trained volunteers in the delivery of services and educational programs to diverse communities and rural populations
  • A proven ability to build relationships founded on trust, follow-through and commitment which will enhance and further the Alzheimer's Association's mission, vision and organizational values.
  • Proven success in building strong and productive work teams with a focus on creating and nurturing community relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, electronically and publicly to a variety of audiences.
  • A high level of confidentiality, integrity, diplomacy and initiative.
