Community Outreach Specialist-Green Bay

General Summary

The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for implementation of the Alzheimer's Association core services as directed by the Common Program Plan and the Alzheimer's Association's Strategic Plan goals.

In addition, he/she will provide direct assistance to families and care providers; develop collaborative initiatives with organizations and represent the Association's full mission in the community.

This position will be based in Green Bay, WI, and will require significant travel within the state and occasional travel out of state.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implement portfolio of Common programs and services in designated service area.
  • Market core services and programs of the Association (Helpline, website, care consultation, educational programs, support groups, etc.).
  • Provide direct assistance to Helpline callers with care consultation, assistance, support and community referrals.
  • Network and develop collaborative initiatives in education, public awareness and family assistance with other organizations in the community.
  • Deliver ongoing support to providers in dementia care, law enforcement and other public service professionals by providing education and training on dementia related topics.
  • Research and identify emerging dementia-related community needs to be addressed.
  • Research and provide input on grants and other community funding opportunities.
  • Provide oversight and management on designated Walk to End Alzheimer's events.
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to participate in programs and events.
  • Represent the Chapter at public events, conferences and media events as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field or equivalent combination of work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in public relations, communications, sales and/or marketing, event planning, volunteer management, non-profit and/or health related areas.
  • Strong background and interest in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
  • Excellent public speaking, group facilitation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in providing educational and informational presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience in networking with collaborative agencies and providers.
  • In depth experience with volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Experience in fundraising and development.
  • Knowledge of non-profit organizations and demonstrated experience in networking with volunteers, collaborating community agencies and providers.
  • Must possess demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft computer programs.
