Corporate Relations Manager

General Summary

The Corporate Relations Manager position supports the mission of the Alzheimer's Association Cleveland Area Chapter to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected in northeast Ohio; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.  

The Corporate Relations Manager is responsible for securing partnerships within the business community of the chapter's five-county region in order to increase revenue across all channels, deepen relationships and increase awareness.

The Corporate Relations Manager will create and execute a strategic plan to identify, engage, solicit and steward business prospects in order to maximize fund development opportunities such as event sponsorships, Walk to End Alzheimer's and The Longest Day teams, volunteer leadership, and employee engagement.  This position works to establish long-term partnerships, strengthen existing relationships and initiate new contacts within the corporate sector.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support Fund Development team in reaching revenue goals with a particular focus on increasing participation from the business community.
  • Develop relationships with companies that have matching gifts programs, as well as employees participating in United Way and Community Health Charities fundraising drives.
  • Prepare compelling proposals, agreements and presentation materials for prospects.
  • Utilize the Alzheimer's Workplace Alliance as a tool for entry to companies and execute appropriate follow up.
  • Communicate with the Board of Directors and other volunteers to review and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies of business prospects.
  • Contribute to revenue goal setting and the refinement of processes and procedures around tracking revenue.
  • Collaborate with national staff on Corporate Initiatives efforts as appropriate, and participate on monthly development director calls with national staff.
  • Support cause-marketing efforts and propose new cause marketing ideas to businesses as appropriate.
  • Key relationships (beyond Fund Development & Senior Management team): Board of Directors; Fund Development Committee; Finance Team; Program & Education teams.
  • Work with Marketing and Development staff to properly implement sponsorship agreements.


  • Track prospecting activities and provide monthly reports to the senior management team and Board of Directors, keeping the Vice President of Fund Development apprised of weekly activities.
  • Significant travel within the association's five-county region to meet with prospects and donors, with mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Assist with donor relations as assigned by the Vice President, Fund Development.
  • Prepare or assist with creation of development-related presentations and reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum five (5) years fundraising experience as a staff person in a nonprofit setting, or in sales positions within the for-profit sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Google applications.
  • Ability to identify and safeguard confidential information.
  • Possesses a valid and current state driver's license and automobile insurance. Must have reliable transportation. 


  • Demonstrated success in developing business relationships and securing charitable gifts.
  • Ability to persuasively promote the Alzheimer's Association mission, strategic plan and benefit to the community to audiences of diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of area corporate giving programs and methods for obtaining such information about specific businesses.
  • Self-starter capable of prioritizing projects and tasks.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized and accurate.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with constituents and colleagues with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment, while being flexible to changing expectations.
  • Ability to analyze information and make timely, appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work within an open air/cubicle environment.
