Manager, Relationship Events

McLean, VA

General Summary

To partner in the development, planning and execution of the Brain Ball Gala in Washington, DC and other relationship events including parlor events and other events to be determined. 

This position is located in the McLean, VA chapter office and reports to the Manager, Relationship Events.

Essential Job Functions

  •  Manage vendor relations for million dollar fundraising events, including but not limited to, the Brain Ball Gala in Washington, DC
  • Manage outreach efforts to high-level volunteer committee, honorees and donors. Build and cultivate relationships with these client groups
  • Support planning efforts and management of all relationship events logistics, including registration, attendee tracking, presentation and materials support. Ensure all deadlines are met
  • Sponsorship solicitation; follow-up, tracking; benefits and general stewardship of sponsors throughout the year
  • Manage all financial aspects of relationship events, including issuing invoices and collecting payments in a timely manner, and creating comprehensive financial reports.
  • Creation and execution of cultivation events as needed
  • Manage inventory for all event supplies
  • Organizing facilities and details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, promotional material etc.
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in fundraising, marketing, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 4-5  years experience in development, special events and or marketing
  • Experience developing and managing large-scale special events
  • Experience working with and cultivating relationships with sponsors and high level volunteer leadership
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including late evening and early morning work as needed and Saturdays and Sundays during Walk Season (September-October).
  • Must have a car and valid driver's license for travel off-site to events and meetings
  • Must be able to bend, lift, carry, transport, and set up a variety of print and event materials of up to 25 lbs.
  • Project management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple and competing deadline
  •  Ability to work independently with limited daily supervision
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent ability to establish relationships and collaborate with colleagues, vendors and sponsors
  • Great attention to detail while maintaining a big-picture perspective
  • Successful volunteer/committee management
  • Excel under pressure in fast-paced environments
