The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research.  Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

This position serves as the primary Regional Chapter contact responsible for building awareness of Alzheimer's Disease by ensuring the delivery of programs and services through volunteers, including  caregiver education, Helpline Caller support, dementia education, physician outreach and the coordination of advocacy with local, state and federal leaders. New Mexico Chapter Regional Program Specialists must be bondable and insurable.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform regional program planning, needs assessment and implementation of a wide range of volunteer-delivered educational classes and community presentations to caregivers, families, persons living with the disease and law enforcement agencies though out the region.
  • Identify, recruit and manage volunteers to deliver programs and other support services throughout the region.
  • Work with the Program Director to coordinate training of volunteers.
  • Coordinate appropriate resources to represent the Alzheimer's Association at a variety of events.  
  • Provide assistance to the public and Alzheimer's families by connecting them with appropriate resources ad providing Care Consultations.
  • Use Personify and other tools to manage contacts, constituents and various reporting requirements.
  • Administer the business aspects of Regional Office operation and assist with/perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director and/or Program Director.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience in recruiting, training and coordinating of a wide range of volunteers
  • Experience in medical or mental health field highly desirable
  • Exceptional organizational, management, interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs
  • Ability to use a variety of software and databases
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Multicultural sensitivity
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and caregiving skills
  • Access to reliable vehicle, valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
