The Alzheimer’s Association Respite Care Grant is available as a form of financial assistance to Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura County family caregivers in need of respite care for their low-income loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Those that made these monies available to local folks caring for one with dementia know exactly what you’re experiencing as you care for your loved one. Respite from caregiving duties that encompass one’s daily life are indeed challenging and tiring and certainly benefit from time away.
This is a reimbursement grant for in-home or adult day services. Caregivers must be able to pay initial services and will invoice the association for reimbursement.
Our respite grants have four very specific requirements. They are:
1. Proof of dementia diagnosis.
2. The Caregiver and the person with dementia must be US Citizens of Legal Residents of the US.
3. Either the Caregiver or the person with dementia has lived in our chapter territory for 10+ years. Our Chapter territory includes: San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.
4. Provide proof of extreme financial need.
Again, we at the Alzheimer’s Association are here as a compassionate ear, a source of information and referrals, as well as an in-person or phone consultation should you need additional support and advice.
